COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In the past year, the Glen Ridge police department has strengthened its commitment to fostering positive relationships with
the Glen Ridge and Essex County communities through a variety of outreach initiatives. Events such as
National Night Out brought neighbors and officers together in a celebration of safety and collaboration, while
programs like the Police Trading Card Program and the Bicycle Rodeo engaged our youth in fun, educational
activities that emphasize trust and connection as well as introduced our youth to our officers through
meaningful interactions. The Car Seat Installation program provided families with hands-on safety support,
and events like Walk to School with an Officer and Lemonade with Law Enforcement offered informal
opportunities to connect with officers in everyday settings. Seasonal highlights included the festive Santa
Parade, which brought holiday cheer to the Borough.
Additionally, our department played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of participants and
spectators at the Borough’s four annual road races—the Lager Run 5K, Sunset Classic 8K, Ashenfelter 8K, and
Rhino Romp. Officers worked diligently to manage traffic, provide emergency response support, and create a
secure environment, allowing these beloved community events to run smoothly and safely. These combined
efforts exemplify our department’s dedication to building a safer, more connected community for all.
